Typical for Georgetown homes the house had a lot of charm, but not a lot of space. The client was desperate to improve the tiny kitchen, update the bathrooms, add closet space, and finally really get some use out of the basement. A previous renovation had created a two-story atrium from the basement to the first floor creating a dramatic entrance but leaving the house with even less square footage. Every inch mattered.
The new layout for the kitchen opened it up significantly. By modifying an awkward mechanical shaft and an existing window we were able to gain counter and storage space without losing light in the kitchen. 3DG then designed custom kitchen cabinetry ensuring that every inch of space was maximized for the client. The cabinets were manufactured and installed by 3DGs own custom millworker.
The master bath was equally challenging. All fixtures had to be rearranged to improve circulation and allow for a beautiful sun-filled shower clad in slate. The basement including the 2nd bath got a facelift. Tackling water issues and then finishing the unfinished portion of the basement added another usable bedroom to the house. New lighting throughout all public spaces brightened the once shadowy home.
The clients goals were met. Their challenges overcome.
